Mr. Herdman has achieved an AV® Preeminent™ peer-reviewed rating by Martindale-Hubbell in the areas of litigation, business law and administrative law.
For more than three decades, Mr. Herdman has represented clients in New Mexico having a diversity of legal needs, including representation and advice on matters involving general business, real estate, construction, employment, development and zoning approvals. His practice in those areas encompasses simple and complex transactions, litigation, appeals, arbitration, mediation, general strategic advice and representation before administrative zoning tribunals.
Mr. Herdman was first admitted to practice law in 1990. Before moving to New Mexico, he was an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City, where he practiced in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities litigation and anti-trust law.
Mr. Herdman was a member and Assistant Editor of the Buffalo Law Review (1988 to 1989) and served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Brooklyn Law School. His publications include Doctors, Insurers and the Antitrust Laws, Buffalo Law Review, Vol. 37, pp. 789-829, 1988/89. Mr. Herdman speaks regularly at continuing legal education seminars on the various areas in which he practices.

Representative projects on which he has provided legal representation in New Mexico and the Santa Fe area include a new addition to the Christus St. Vincent Hospital, the Thornburg office campus, the Zia Station development, the Marquez Place Lofts, the Drury Plaza Hotel in downtown Santa Fe, the Aldea subdivision, the Oshara Village subdivision and renovations to the historically significant First Presbyterian Church in Santa Fe.
When free time permits, he enjoys trail running, mountain biking, backpacking and spending time with his wife, Alice, and their Australian cattle dog, Wheeler.
