Mr. Katz has over 30 years experience in applying a results-oriented, creative approach to challenging New Mexico real estate and commercial transactions. He also assists non-profit organizations, artists, galleries and collectors address the variety of their legal and transactional needs. Significant accomplishments include profit and non-profit mergers and acquisitions, public-private development projects, commercial, lodging, residential, historic area and mixed-use developments, including entitlement, financing, construction, leasing and conservation easement components.
A graduate of the University of Colorado School Of Law (J.D., Order of the Coif), Claremont Graduate School (M.A., 1974) and the University of Pennsylvania (B.A., cum laude, 1971), Mr. Katz is admitted to practice in the States of New Mexico and Colorado. Locally, he has served as President of the First Judicial District of New Mexico Bar Association (1989). Statewide, he has served on the Real Estate Specialty Committee of the New Mexico Legal Specialization Board, as well as a member and past Chair of the New Mexico Business Law Section Board.
Mr. Katz has been recognized with a Martindale-Hubbell “AV” rating, by The Best Lawyers in America continuously since 1995, as a Southwest Superlawyer® since 2007 and as a leading individual in Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. In 2012 he was selected as Best Lawyers® Lawyer of the Year for Santa Fe Real Estate Law.
